"Story of Double Decker Bus"
I was laughing so hard until my eyes got watered while having a conversation with my son before bedtime. My son told me about his friend’s successful father. I assumed the father must have got a promotion at work or something. I asked my son, “So… who is he? Has he done something awesome? My son replied, “He goes to work by double-decker bus every morning!” “Hahahahaha” I burst out laughing and my son looked at me with no clue. What a punch line!... My son must have felt envious of someone who does things that he cannot. He must have thought that taking a double-decker bus is one of the factors to define ‘a successful man’ in the world. However, I felt ashamed of my initial reaction to what my son shared with me. We, adults, usually define one’s success based on his/her material possessions or social status: a luxurious life styles or fame. We all pursue what looks good in this world with or without consciousness. In contrast, the bible defines a successful man as a person with many ‘blessings’. The blessings God provide for us are completely different from the ones the secular world provides. This is because the blessings in the bible are not based on a self-centered concept. Therefore, a life driven by the word of God is the answer. We need to separate ourselves from sins and follow Christ, our lord of savior. This is what we should pursue according to what the bible says. I pray God to give each one of you power not to fall into temptation, but to revive by the word of God every day from this very moment in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
" Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night" (Psalm 1:1-2)
