“Direction in My Life”
It has been a year and half since my family and I moved into a new city, called Gimpo, one of the surrounding satellite cities in Korea. It is a great city that provides such an eco-friendly environment: fresh air at sunrise and a beautiful sky at sunset. That is why I often recommend this city to my friends who live in Seoul, the biggest city in Korea. All of them envy me for living in Gimpo, but they feel reluctant to get out of Seoul where people su...ffer the high prices and the polluted environment. There are two major reasons why: Education and Job. They believe that a good education often guarantees a good job in the future, which is only possible in Seoul. In order to provide a quality education for their children, they cut their budget down on the housing. To make it worse, many moms have no choice, but to work outside all day to afford an expensive private education, which leaves them no time to spend with their children at home. Of course, there are a number of benefits an urban life can provide, yet one may wonder if that kind of lifestyle is valuable in Christian’s point of view. True education should come from knowing God’s words, which teaches the little ones true value in life such as a healthy self-esteem. Great job should be the one God provides for individual who finds and develops his/her talent in that. As simply attending a big church does not automatically mature one’s faith, neither a perfect education nor a perfect job can guarantee one’s happiness. Therefore, the direction in life is more important than your current address. I pray that you leave it all to God this morning and see where God’s heart is at in Jesus’s everlasting name. Amen.
